About

The yellowfin goatfish is a mullid and an occasional schooler, living over the sandy bottoms of reef flats, lagoons and coastal and seaward reefs. By day it gathers into large inactive aggregations, then disperses onto sand flats at night to feed on small worms and crustaceans; it sometimes joins schools of bluestripe snapper and takes on their blue stripes. Commonly about 25 cm and up to 39.8 cm fork length, maturing at about 24 cm. Found from 1 to 113 m, in season all year and medium priced; ringnets are also used for it.
