About

The Mozambique tilapia, introduced to Taiwan in 1946, is a fast-growing, pollution-tolerant omnivore and the commonest freshwater fish in reservoirs, ponds and rivers. Catchable year-round and extremely prolific, it swarms to any bait by the bank, making it the top starter fish for new anglers; Taiwan's improved farmed strains are marketed as 台灣鯛 (Taiwan tilapia).
