About

The Taiwan snakehead — 雷魚 or 鱧魚 locally — is a native snakehead of lowland rivers, ponds and reservoir weed beds in western Taiwan, with a snake-like head and blotched flanks, able to gulp air and tolerate poorly oxygenated water. Aggressive and a fierce guarder of its fry, it is a favourite lure target in Taiwanese reservoirs and wild ponds, taken on surface frog lures or soft plastics along weed edges.
