About

The fourfinger threadfin is one of Hong Kong's most prized winter eating fish, with fine, oily flesh that steams or pan-fries beautifully. It schools over sandy-mud bottoms, estuaries and shallow inshore water, feeding on small fish and prawns; the main run is autumn through the following spring (roughly Mid-Autumn to Qingming), easiest to find feeding close inshore on a flooding tide, from both shore and boat.
