About

The crimson jobfish is a deep-water snapper of rocky bottoms, most abundant between 180 and 270 m off Guam, so it takes deep tackle to reach. At night it migrates vertically into the upper part of its habitat to feed on small fishes, shrimps, crabs, amphipods, ascidians and salps. Commonly about 50 cm and up to 100 cm, maturing at about 52 cm but living as long as 44 years - and its populations recover very slowly. A high-priced fish taken mainly by bottom longline and deep handline, and marketed mostly fresh. Available all year.
