About

Common snook is considered one of Florida's most popular inshore game fish, with an elongated body and a prominent lateral line. Its range is the western Atlantic, from southern Florida and the south-eastern Gulf of Mexico through most of the Antilles and the Caribbean coast of Central and South America to Rio de Janeiro, with records also from North Carolina and Texas. It favors mangroves, bridges and estuarine structure, and is active through spring, summer and autumn, retreating to backwaters during winter cold snaps. Its explosive runs demand real technique.
