Clown knifefish (Chitala ornata) is a freshwater species recorded in Singapore.
Scientific name: Chitala ornata · Water: Freshwater
Size: 30–90 cm
Weight: 0.5–5 kg
The clown knifefish is a nocturnal predator with white-ringed spots, native to Indochina and now resident in Singapore's waters. It swims by rippling its long anal fin and hides in deep structure by day, so slow-sinking soft plastics fished tight to cover at night work best. Catchable all year, mainly after dark.
