The C-O sole is a demersal pleuronectid found on flat bottoms and rocky areas, recorded from 18 to 350 m. Its young are common in shallow water and the adults are frequently in deeper water. Maximum length is about 36 cm total length. It is a minor commercial species, a gamefish and a public aquarium fish, with a medium price category. Fishing vulnerability is moderate at 42 of 100 and resilience medium. IUCN lists it as least concern.
