About

Fishing-conditions and species reference for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the United States: tide, water temperature, wind, waves, moon phase and a 0–100 fishing score.

A fishing app for tide, wind, score and species

SwellAngler is a fishing app that runs in your browser — nothing to download. Pick a spot on the map and you get the tide, water temperature, wind, waves, pressure and moon phase for that point, combined into a 0–100 fishing score. Tide for Hong Kong comes from the official HKO astronomical predictions, and for the US from NOAA; elsewhere it comes from a global model. If you are looking for a fishing tide app, this is exactly what we cover and what we do not: the marine model runs about 10 days out, coastal accuracy is limited, and it must not be used for navigation or safety decisions.

SwellAngler

SwellAngler is a fishing-conditions reference covering Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the United States. It consolidates tide, sea-surface temperature, wind, wave and lunar data into a single 0–100 fishing index, accompanied by in-season species guidance for each region.

The Site is intended for leisure anglers. It is not a navigational aid and is not associated with any official meteorological or hydrographic authority.

Interpretation of the index

The index is a reference model derived from environmental conditions. It does not guarantee a successful catch and does not replace knowledge of local waters. Conditions at the same location may be experienced differently by different anglers.

Data sources

Attribution of sources is a licence requirement, and the links below are part of that attribution:

Accuracy and limitations

Sea-level and wave data derive from global numerical models with a resolution of approximately 8 to 25 kilometres. Accuracy in coastal waters is limited, and the data provider expressly states that such data is unsuitable for coastal navigation. Tidal predictions presented on the Site are a reference trend and are not an official tide table.

Before going to sea, always consult the official warnings and tide information issued by the relevant authority.

Safety notice

Angling from rocks, breakwaters, piers and boats carries real risk. The Site is not a safety service: it issues no warnings, and its data must never be used to decide whether it is safe to go out.

Always consult the official weather and marine warnings issued by the relevant authority before leaving, and again before committing. Conditions change quickly. Where appropriate, wear a life jacket, tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return, and take particular care on wet or exposed rock and in strong onshore wind or swell.

Disclaimer

The Site and its data are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, timeliness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from reliance on the Site.

Data are obtained from third-party providers and may be unavailable, delayed or inaccurate. Attribution and licence terms are set out above.

You are responsible for complying with the laws and regulations applicable where you fish, including any requirement to hold a licence or permit, restrictions on protected species, closed seasons, and marine protected or no-take areas. The appearance of a species or location on the Site does not mean that fishing for it there is lawful.

Season data indicate only the general period when a species is typically easiest to catch; they do not represent a legal open season. Closed seasons, no-take areas and size or bag limits are set by the relevant fisheries authority and may change — always check the current rules before you fish.
